Privacy Policy

Overview

Privacy is a fundamental value at Weekend Lab. As someone who values privacy in the apps I use, I've built mallow with privacy as a core principle. Please know that all future updates will be made with respect for users, and privacy, as a priority. I am not here to make money off tracking people or selling data.

What Data We Collect

Your Personal Data

  • Email Addresses: When you choose to add your email address and link it to your mallow app to create an account, we collect and store it to:
    • Link your subscription to your identity for better customer support
    • Send you verification codes for account authentication
    • Provide occasional updates about the app (only if you opt-in)
    • Enable optional cloud synchronization of your data across devices
  • App Data (optional): If you choose to use our cloud synchronization features, your app data (savings entries, goals, wishlist items, etc.) will be stored securely in the cloud to enable cross-device access.
  • In-App Purchase Management: For users who make purchases, we use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat assigns user IDs that we then link to your email address to provide better customer support for subscription-related issues.
  • Feedback: If you choose to submit feedback or bug reports through the app, an email is required so that the feedback can be followed up on if needed. The feedback is stored on our server securely.
  • mallow site: This website does not collect personal information, only anonymized and cookie-free traffic data via Framer.

Technical & Anonymous Data

  • Anonymous Usage Data: To help improve the app, mallow collects completely anonymous usage data through TelemetryDeck. This data cannot identify you and is not personally identifiable (under GDPR or other privacy laws, but in general - because it is anonymous). It simply helps us understand how features are being used so we can make mallow better.
  • Error Reporting: We use Sentry to collect diagnostic information when the app crashes or encounters errors. These reports contain technical information about what went wrong but no personal data, and is also anonymous.

How We Use Data

  • Email Addresses:
    • To verify your identity during authentication
    • To provide customer support for subscription issues
    • To send occasional updates about the app (only if you opted-in)
    • To link your subscription purchases to your account
  • App Data: To synchronize your data across multiple devices, ensuring you have access to your information wherever you sign in.
  • Anonymous Usage Data: Used to improve app functionality and user experience, and also to generate interesting aggregated data about mallow's impact (e.g. how much the community has saved in total - but it's all anonymous data).
  • Error Reports: Used to identify and fix technical issues.
  • Purchase Data: Used to manage your subscription status and history. Email is linked to make support possible.

Cloud Synchronization

When you sign in with your email, mallow offers cloud synchronization of your data. This includes:

  • Buy log entries
  • Check-ins
  • Goals
  • Wishlist items
  • User preferences

This data is securely stored using industry-standard practices. You can always use the app without cloud synchronization, even if you have an account. Cloud sync is opt-in.

Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: Your app data is stored locally on your device regardless of whether you use cloud synchronization.
  • Cloud Storage: If you create an account, your data is also securely stored using Supabase infrastructure.
  • Email addresses and authentication data are stored securely on Supabase servers.
  • Anonymous usage data is processed by TelemetryDeck, which stores data securely on servers in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (hosted on Microsoft Azure).
  • Error reports are stored securely on Sentry's servers.
  • Purchase data is processed and stored by RevenueCat on their secure servers.

Email Communications

  • Verification Emails: We send one-time verification codes to confirm your email address during authentication.
  • Support Communications: We may email you regarding subscription or technical support issues.
  • Optional Updates: If you opted-in, we may occasionally send you updates about new features or important app news. You can change this preference at any time.
  • No Spam: We will never sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

  • Supabase: Provides secure user authentication and database services for storing email addresses, user preferences, and synced app data. Supabase's privacy policy can be found at https://supabase.com/privacy.
  • TelemetryDeck: Collects anonymous usage data as defined by GDPR. You can read more about TelemetryDeck's privacy policy at https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
  • Sentry: Provides error reporting to help fix technical issues. Sentry's privacy policy for apps can be found here.
  • RevenueCat: Manages in-app purchases and subscriptions. RevenueCat's privacy policy can be found at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.
